The blueberry has her first mention as medical plant in the medieval times. Already the American Indians had produced with the blueberries a kind of fruit bar. Today we can found the blueberries in forest with acid and peaty ground. Maybe you can find some blueberries when you go for a walk in the forest or in the mountains. If you are in luck, you can have a break and taste some of the black – blue and delicious blueberries. Everyone who pinches a bit gets blue fingers and teeth.
The small shrub, high about 10 to 60 centimetres, is in flower from April until May. The nodular, black – blue fruits have a size from 6 to 12 millimetres, are sweet and flavourful and develop from July until September. A shrub of blueberries becomes an age about 30 years. Cultural blueberries are much bigger than the wild ones. There exist a lot of different species who mature all in other time periods, other tastes and other sizes.
Blueberries are very healthy and contain a lot of vitamins and minerals. The blueberries contain especially numerous vitamins C against infections, colds and stress. Moreover they are a good resource for dietary fibre and help the immune system and the somatic cell against bacteria. Of the dried fruits you can make tee, which helps in case of dysentery illness. The fresh fruits can cause the opposite: they can be abstergent. The fruit juice helps in case of infection in the mouth or gap and can be used on external wounds. In addition the blueberries are a “silver bullet” against worms, in case you are afflicted by these animals.
