Stilfserjoch National Park in South Tyrol’s first berry-themed hotel
The Stilfserjoch National Park stretches out over 134,620 hectares in the midst of the Central Alpine region. It includes the entire Ortler-Cevedale mountain massif and its side valleys, and is thus one of the largest protected areas in Europe. The idea of protecting this wonderful mountain world was first enshrined in law in 1935 and in 1977 the park was extended to its present borders.
Approximately 40 percent of the National Park is in South Tyrolean territory. 11 South Tyrolean communities in Vinschgau and the upper Ulten Valley belong to the park, ranging from the valley bottom at 700 metres above sea level to the glaciers at almost 4000 metres.
Your hosts in the National Park believe strongly in running their businesses to the benefit of the environment and in using local produce. Find out more at www.nationalpark-gastgeber.it |
