You will also find a great variety of sporting adventures in the natural landscape: beautiful sky trails, biathlon, an exciting natural toboggan run, ski jumping (25 m pad), ice skating, winter hiking and, some of the most charming alpine skiing itineraries of the Cevedale massif right at the end of the valley.

The energy of biathlon and cross-country skiing

Martello’s biathlon and cross-country skiing centre boasts 12 km of perfectly prepared sky runs and the first electronic shooting facility in a high altitude fairylike landscape. Ideal for professionals and beginners (courses available).

Cross-country skiing is a healthy sport, closely tied to nature, which stimulates almost all muscle groups. If you have never tried cross-country skiing, try a beginner course first.

For several years the FISI association for winter sports has placed Martello’s sports association in charge of organizing events and competitions (in the 10 m polygon), always with satisfactory results. Since 2001 it has been possible to organize more challenging biathlon events thanks to the new electronic polygon for small gauges.
Note: in 2007 the junior & youth biathlon World Championships took place in Martell Biathlon!

Alpine skiing – off the beaten track

A tour within the silence of the mountains, your own marks in the fresh deep snow, solitary descents … the glaciers area of the upper Val Martello with its towering “3000” is a real paradise for alpine skiing lovers.

Winter excursions – Snowshoeing

A white mantle covers the winter landscape with silence…the snowy landscape becomes more interesting as you leave the beaten roads and prepared tracks. Walking through unspoiled landscapes, in the fresh deep snow, discovering the enchanted scenery: to become one with nature.

Walking in perfect silence, followed only by the crackling sound of our own feet in the snow. Even when the snow is a meter high the snowshoes allow you to walk as steadily as you would on a beaten trail. Guided snowshoeing excursions through the winter landscape with your host Roland are available on request.

Toboggan in Val Martello

A toboggan ride on the “Hölderle“ natural track, along the frozen stream, is an emotion not to be missed. Under the sun during the daytime, under the stars at night time, romantic or sportive. Plenty of fun and a clean, healthy air.

Skating – fun on the ice

Every winter the ice-skating emotion comes back. The most beautiful skating opportunity you can find: on the frozen lakes or on the skating ring by the Trattla sporting resort. The sun makes all the ice shiny, while we slide elegantly on it… now that is proper relaxation!

Alpine skiing

Winter sports lovers can appreciate the highlights and hospitality of winter sports resorts. The Ortler Skiarena offers 13 locations with guaranteed snow, sun and variety. All accessed with a single ski pass.

The Tarces/Laces farmstead ski resort

The Tarces/Laces farmstead ski resort is not the typical noisy and chaotic sky resort but a sunny, economical and family friendly holiday area with a balanced and varied offer. Two double chairlifts, two ski lifts, well prepared ski runs with guaranteed snow, for beginners and experts alike. Ski rental plus ski and snowboard classes are available.
