Alpine Pasture Trail
Nature’s Panorama in Four Acts
A trail like a moving painting – gorges, meadows, silence, and you in the middle of it all.
The new Alpine Pasture Trail in Hintermartell connects the valley’s most beautiful stages into one loop. Each step feels like a new scene – with rushing water, open skies, and gentle slopes.
Seasonal period: June to October
Refreshment options & special features:
This round tour captures the soul of the Martell Valley – thundering waterfalls, calm forests, blooming alpine meadows, and a touch of adventure.
If you’re lucky, you might spot bearded vultures circling high above, or playful marmots in the sun.
Two alpine huts worth every step: the Zufall Hut, surrounded by glacier peaks, and the welcoming Lyfi Alm.
And to end the day, a coffee or homemade treat at the Retro Gasthof Schönblick – where the view alone feels like dessert.
Suitable for: For active adults and young explorers
Directions:
From the car park in Hintermartell, the trail begins across the hanging bridge and the four dramatic viewpoints of the Plima Gorge to the Zufall Hut.
Continue through the Madritsch Valley (trail no. 151), follow the newly built path no. 33 into the Pedertal Valley, past the quiet Peder-Stier Alm and on to the sunlit Lyfi Alm.
The return leads you through forest paths and turns – a round that feels like a story told by the mountains themselves.
