Alpine Silence & Glacier Views

The Ebenes Jöchl is a peaceful mountain balcony at the heart of the Martell Valley – easy to reach, yet filled with the quiet majesty of high alpine nature. The trail leads through cool spruce and larch forests, past murmuring streams and open alpine meadows where marmots whistle and chamois graze on the slopes. The final climb is a bit steeper, but at the summit cross, the panorama unfolds in all directions – from the Weißbrunnspitze and Nonnenspitze to Zufallspitze and the majestic Königsspitze. A place made for deep breaths and silent awe.

Flowering alpine pastures, encounters with marmots and chamois, and an open view of the glacier peaks make this tour a celebration of quiet beauty. With a bit of luck, you might even spot the bearded vulture circling high above.

The best rest is out in nature – but once back in the valley, the inns by the lake or the charming Café Hölderle invite you to enjoy a homemade treat or a cool drink with mountain views.

From the parking area near Hotel zum See, follow trail no. 36 (Martell Lake Trail) until the junction with trail no. 17. The path climbs steadily through shady spruce and larch forest, crossing small bridges and streams until the tree line is reached. Above, lush alpine meadows open up, leading to the final, slightly steeper ascent to the Ebenes Jöchl (2,799 m). Descend along the same route until the junction before the Zufrittbach bridge, then optionally take the steeper trail no. 17a to the dam and follow the lake trail (no. 36) back to the parking area.
