The Return with a View

One trail, two moods: first soft and gentle through a larch forest, then suddenly wild, steep, and full of mountain spirit.
This circular route leads you from peaceful meadow slopes up to the scenic Sauggrat – a quiet ridge where you can truly feel the power of the mountains – before returning through the open hills of Zirmbühel.

The trail passes through an enchanting larch forest often called the “fairy wood.”
You may spot chamois along the way, and from the Sauggrat – one of our favorite viewpoints – the panorama opens across the entire Martell Valley into the distant Vinschgau.
A place of calm and clarity – made for breathing deeply and feeling alive.

At the end of your hike, the Stallwies Farm awaits – the highest grain farm in Europe.
Here you’ll find honest mountain flavors: homemade bread, fragrant herbs, and the famous strawberry tiramisù – a taste of life in the high Alps.

Starting at the Stallwies Farm (1,931 m), follow the forest road (trail no. 15) past an old mill and through light-filled woods to the Suchbühel and on to the Wiesboden.
Those who prefer an easier walk can turn back here. For the more adventurous, trail no. 24 continues steeply up to the Sauggrat (2,324 m). From here, the view stretches wide across the Martell Valley – a silent summit far from the crowds.
The return route follows the sunny slopes of Zirmbühel along trail no. 23 – a beautiful descent ending with a well-earned rest.
